As patronising as reviewer's guides can be, they're nothing next to the inexplicable lunacy of embargoes. Perennially unpopular, yet rarely commented on publicly, I've yet to find anyone who can adequately explain what the benefit of these archaic chokeholds is. Certainly, there's absolutely no benefit to the media outlets that abide by them. Publishers get all their coverage in a neatly timed package, maximising the profile of their game on the date they want, while websites end up splitting their audience as the biggest feature of the day becomes the one literally everyone else is running at the same time. It's madness.
While outpromoting his latest film, "Chappie," filmmaker Neill Blomkamp, whoachieved great critical and commercial success with his 2009 debut"District 9," has made a couple of announcements that have attractedmuch attention from the fanboy set: his next project willbe a new entry in the venerable "Alien" franchise and he has admittedthat he feels that he messed up with his previous film, the hugelydisappointing sci-fi allegory "Elysium". Based on this, I can only assume thatwhen he hits the junket circuit in a couple of years to hype his"Alien" film, he will spend part of his time apologizing for"Chappie" as well because its failures are so pronounced that theymake the artistic sins of "Elysium" seem minor by comparison.

Similar Hardware, OS & Apps Make the DifferenceFrom a hardware standpoint, each tablet is pretty comparable, so what becomes the differentiator is the operating system and app market. In my view, this is where the iPad 2 and iOS clearly win out, the OS is minimalist and out of the way, and there are 65,000(!) iPad specific apps available on the iTunes App Store.
